Child Support / Alimony

Child Support Information

The Child Support Enforcement division, in cooperation with the State of Florida Disbursement Unit (SDU), acts as the central depository for receiving, recording, reporting, monitoring and disbursing alimony and child support payments, in accordance with Florida Statutes, Section 61.181.

The Florida legislature passed Chapter 98-397, laws of Florida, (CS\CS\HB 271) which mandated the Department of Revenue to contract with the Florida Association of Court Clerks (FACC) and each depository to perform duties with respect to the operation and maintenance of a State Disbursement Unit (SDU). With the passage of Florida Statutes, section 61.1824, the Legislature established a centralized location for the collection and disbursement of child support payments known as the State of Florida Disbursement Unit (FLSDU). The FLSDU shall be responsible for the collection and disbursement of payments for Brevard County.

The Child Support Enforcement (CSE) division assists custodial parents (whether married, separated, divorced, or unmarried) with the location of non-custodial parents. The CSE division assists with the establishment of paternity and/or a child support order, and enforcement of child support obligations even if the non-custodial parent resides in another state other than Florida or lives in a foreign country.
