Recording Notification Service FAQ’s
- Check the Brevard County Official Records website, Brevard County Clerk of Court Official Records to see what documents are recorded under your name. The following outline provides steps to assist you in researching:
- Navigate to our website, Brevard County Clerk of Court.
- Select the Official Records link found in the Public Records Search area.
- Select the >SEARCH – Official Records link.
- Select the “Name” search option.
- Accept the disclaimer.
- Enter the owner’s last name followed by a comma then the first name (Example: Smith, J or Smith, John) or a business name.
- For business names, please do not enter the word “the,” or use any symbols with the exception of a hyphen (-).
NOTE: Entering less information will return the most accurate results as documents are indexed as they are presented on the document. You may narrow your search from and to date, as applicable. - Select the search button followed by the Done button to search all name options or update the checklist of names to select specific names.
- Your results page will display.
- Select the desired document.
- You may view, print or save the document image as long as the document is not statutorily protected from public view online.
- Sign up for the Brevard County Clerk of Court & Comptroller’s Recording Notification Service to receive automated email alerts upon registering your name and/or legal description information when a document matching this criteria is recorded in the Official Records. Do not include periods, commas or apostrophes when registering.
The Recording Notification Service (RNS) is a free service offered by the Brevard County Clerk of the Circuit Court & Comptroller’s Office to alert citizens via email when a document is recorded in the Official Records matching a registered name or property description.
When a document is recorded, that matches a name or property description you have registered with our Recording Notification Service, you will receive a notification via the email address associated with your registered account.
You may add up to 10 names and/or property description.
Example for an individual name: John Robert Doe Jr.

You will receive one email notification per document recorded in the Official Records containing either the name(s) or property identification number(s) registered with our office.
It is likely you will receive an alert that may pertain to another registered name with similar characteristics.
Your name or property identification number(s) will remain on the notification list until you unsubscribe to this service.
No. Timeshare units are not issued a unique property identifier for the individual unit week(s) or a street address specific to all of the unit/unit weeks. However, you may register your name as a timeshare property owner.

As long as a document meets statutory recording guidelines, Florida law requires the Clerk & Comptroller's Office to record the document. Recordings cannot be refused unless guidelines are not met. For a list of recording guidelines, please review chapters 28 and 695, Florida Statutes.
If you suspect a document was fraudulently recorded against your name or property, you may file a complaint with your local law enforcement agency.
